For those of you w/ Escort Passport 85xx detectors, you might like to know that Escort offers repair/update service for a flat 49.95 fee -- even if you are out of warranty. Mine was acting up and giving false LASER readings out of the blue, so I called them and arranged to send mine in. They will repair the problem, and update it with the latest firmware/software that is currently used (tho for hardware updates, we're out of luck), and if necessary replace the smartcord at no additional charge! So basically I'll end up with a "new" detector when it gets sent back to me... something to consider if you've had yours for a while...
