Essential Carry-Along Gear

Hi-

What do you consider to be essential carry-along gear in your T4R5? Year-round, but also giving consideration to heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures.

Fuses? Tow Ropes? Jumper Cables? Any tools? Blanket?

I'm just starting to get my gear together. The 1st thing I purchased was an air compressor. Also have a tow strap, and a BFH. Next, I'll carry just a few tools, and a good flashlight. I am also starting to put together a box of various off roading essentials that I don't want to carry with me full time.

Picked up some of these Fleet Farm (Plano) ammo boxes. They fit my Viair compressor perfectly.

2 for like $18.

I've got the duct tape (100mph tape in the military), a couple of maglights, tie downs, a woobie (army poncho liner), water, tire gauge, a 150pc toolkit (gotta love the ones from sears, comes in its own box), uh......ammo, a towstrap, extra gloves, a hat, jumper cables....and god knows what else in my milk crate.

The question is where to put all the gear. There is no storage areas in this vehicle!

I use a milk crate. Keeps it all organized, at my fingertips, and it doesnt roll or slide around the backend of the truck.

Still loading mine up but here is what I have to start:
- Jumper cables (fit perfect in where the jack is stored)
- Multi tool (swiss army), adjustable wrench, flat top screw driver
- Tire repair kit
- First aid kit
- Duffel bag with my work gear (Coveralls, work boots, gloves, safety glasses, rain coat, sweater)
- Tow hitch (I don't keep it in the tow slot)
- Bungee cords, cargo straps.

The duffel bag is great as you can neatly pack a lot of stuff into a small volume. It's also easy to take out/relocate as well in case you have to load up the back of the truck. Most of the other things (tools, bungee, etc.) fit into the storage compartment ahead of the sliding tray in the TE.

I also keep a flash light with spare batteries.
