EVAP system bypass - or simplify

Is there a way to bypass the EVAP system or simplify it by running an old-school charcoal canister under the hood or under the truck somewhere. I am pretty sure my system is rotting (pipes and rubber tubing) and not functioning correctly. I have suspicion that now it may be causing my truck to stall out sometimes. At least can I plug up some of the vacuum lines to verify that it is causing my intermittent stalling issue? This vehicle is used in the woods more than on the road and I really do not have any intention of putting money into repairing emissions equipment....especially an EVAP system.

I take it you have a 2001 or 2002? (Older 3rd gens have a charcoal canister under the hood.)

I know some with older third gens have deleted/bypassed their evap systems. But I don’t think there’s any way to permanently prevent throwing a CEL if you do bypass it. (May or may not matter to you.)

EDITS: 1) At least one person with a ‘96 said they successfully deleted the evap system without CELs. 2) I think I I’ve only seen how-to threads for 2000s or older.

Thanks. Yes I have a 2002. CEL does not matter to me. I will go on a search mission after work tonight.
