Ever had your runner on a trailor?

I need to transport my rig and i need to know what the minimum size requirements a trailor needs to be to fit a 4runner with 285's on it. (no wheel spacers).

If someone could measure the width and length of their ride for me that would be great. Preferably someone with 285's.

The 2nd option is a car dolly from uhaul. Anyone do this with their runner? Will uhaul even allow it? Is it too heavy?

I don't have 285's on my rig so I can't help you there, but I think that uhaul would allow you to use a dolly for it...I don't think that it's too heavy for it.

Here you go Sn0w. I gave you an extra 2" on each side, since I am running the 265/75's. About 74" wide, 182" long including the bumpers. Keep in mind the front and rear bumpers can overhang the trailers ends a little bit.

For the dolly the car can't be more than 3,450 pounds. I'm not sure how much mine is with the bumpers and stuff...

Yea I would be weary of dolly's in general, especially with vehicles as big and heavy as ours.

Outfitted with trail armor our rigs are low to mid 4000-4500 range. Uhual let me put the 85 Runner with 35's on their car trailer but not a dolly. The tire slings they have go to a 31 max and we had to supply axle straps to use the trailer. Fit just fine and towed nicely. Some of them will look closely at the tow rig and make sure it has the rated capacity.

No tow dolly for a RWD vehicle unless you disconecct the rear driveshaft.
