Exaust smell

Just wanted to pass on to all of you, My service manager basically stated Toyota still is not totally sure what is causing the sulfur smell problem. What he did say is for the 2004 and 2005 owners not covered by the TSB, if you make enough noise or get a sympathetic service writer Toyota will do the fix on your truck. Mine was completed yesterday. Replaced the cat's and reprogrammed the ECU. Did not notice a change in performance, there was a slight smell of burning oil (new pipes breaking in) and not a trace of rotten egg smell so far :) . Will let you know if anything changes.

Even with the changes I am still considering having the pipe modified to vent out behind the right rear tire. This just seems more logical if you want to drive with back window open and to avoid hot pipe when loading the truck.

Glad to know this is a issue. I've noticed the problem since I got my 05, but its gotten more and more frequent to where driving with my windows down will gag a magget. Hopefully my dealer won't give me any crap about fixing it or I'm going to take him for a ride and stick his head out the window.

I have also had this problem from day 1. I'm tired of it and it's embarrassing when you take others for a ride and they think you're dumb for buying a truck that STINKS LIKE SH*T.
