Excesive Gas Consumption

haha, yeah the next time you're fighting with someone to get to the pump 1st, if it's a shitty staion, maybe just let em have at it! When gas (pertoleum) goes bad it thickens up and turns gummy and then it'll end up turning to varnish after a while. I dealt with this a lot when I worked at a marina - lots of people forget to put fuel stabilizer in their tanks (and run it through the system!!) before winter storage and after they put the boat on the water the next year the whole fuel system is gummed up. Not fun to repair, lemme tell ya!

yeah on my vw site there are rashes of stories of guys getting clogged fuel filter from being first after they filled teh tanks, apparently it stirs up a bunch of sediment and gets in your tank, however i think the 70's vw are a little more finicky then our 3rd gens lol

i just never buy gas when i see them filling the tanks, maybe i'm just paranoid but hey what harm can it be?
 
Interesting, I usually get my gas by running people off the road and then scavenging their gas in dirty bowls all mad max style...

But seriously, do gas stations not have big filters in their pumps?
 
They're calling it a fuel system tune up around here saying its a 3 part process and the the injector and fuel additive are machine pumped through...mentioned MotorVac to them and he didn't give any indication that's what was used. Thing is though its 89.99-99.99 around here, either I'm getting a good deal over here or they just don't offer that caliber of service, but hmm its hard to see a difference in services when i really don't know what to look for in the first place

My tech billed me for 2 hours to do the MotorVac on mine (at $65/hr.) + $37 for the chemicals and he said he even worked on it for more like 3-4 hours but cut me a deal. So I'm wondering if the price they told you doesn't include labor?? If that's the total $$, I'd say jump on that shit before you come back over here. I know my cleaning was a 3 phase deal too so it sounds like the same thing.
 
Oh, i wasnt eleborate enough, i use some gas out of cars at the scrapyard (it is filtered a number of times), like the public cant get access to it so i wouldn't worry about shit gas cause the gas is all the same till it hits the stations, its the additives each brand uses that differentiates.
