Exhaust and Emissions Question

So I was looking at headers for my 3vz 88 4runner and have determined that I don't wanna drop the 700 or so on them. I was wondering is it possible to cap off the manifold opening on the left side that receives the right sides exhaust and basically make a true dual exhaust system or would that cause any problems (computer, etc.)? Also would it cause problems if I cap off the emissions extras on the right manifold. I have it tagged as historic so I don't have to go through any emissions and I'd like to lose some vacuum hoses and other crap that just gets in the way. If you guys could tell me your thoughts or give me any recommendations pertaining to this it be appreciated.

i would say if the oxygen sensor is behind the joining point the yes but if its before the joining point on one side only then no it will not effect it.

depends on the state u live in, im an emissons inspector and as long as u have the required parts on u should be fine, as for performance and driveability, it shouldnt have a negative effect, i think it only has one o2 sensor anyways. but if ur not required to smog pull it all off cat, egr, air managment system.
