Exhaust failure, Transfercase damaged.

So my exhaust snapped. The muffler gave out and dropped the rear resonator and front of the exhaust of of the 4runner. I re-attached the front section, but the rear is too mangled to re-weld.
I'm most likely going to straight pipe it since it failed at the muffler.

I didn't think the damage was bad, however the transferase is dripping oil now. It is a major leak. Oil drips out from the case onto the pan, and is spraying everywhere behind it.
I don't see any damage to the case, so for all I know it was there before.(This may be backed up by this 4runner's inability to shift into 4-Lo dependent on conditions) It's leaking from the front seal.

This is a 2003 V8 4WD. I know nothing about transferase operations. How severe is this?
How much will a repair run me, and how hard is it to do myself?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think the transfer case is prone to leaking. It may have been doing it for a while. Mine leaked very slowly for a couple of years before I bit the bullet and paid to have it repaired. It wasn't cheap - $1141 in 2019 to replace an O-ring by my local repair shop (Toyota certified shop).

This was on the road driving. I was driving I-80 when the exhaust finally gave way.
Aside from some paint missing from the guard It otherwise seems okay, just bleeding out from the front seal.

I wonder if the black plastic actuator box is what is really leaking? This is a common thing and lots of threads and YT vids on replacing the O rings exist. I say this because mine is at 400,xxx miles and the actuator box is the only thing that leaked.

I think almost all of it was labor. They said it was a bad O-ring, which is not much. They just had to do a lot of work to get to it so they could replace it. They had the car for over a day.

It was not a bad leak. I had them check the oil level whenever I took it in for any service and it was never low. I don't think they ever had to add any oil to it. I just don't like leaks, especially on the garage floor or driveway. After 2-3 years I just had it done. It hasn't leaked since then.
