OK, everyone that installed some intake and exhaust systems lets here your thoughts on...

1) What you have? Make?

2) Why you chose the specific brand? Price? Performance? Reliability?

3) How much $$$ to install? Did you take to a shop or DIY?

4) Post-install, lets hear your thoughts, ratings, concerns, and any suggetions you have for people looking to do similar mods.

5) Any other engine mods (chip, headers, etc.) you have or would like to do next?

1) Volant CAI intake & Borla Muffler w/ custom axle back routing out one side.

2)Both are reputable and I feel that you get what you pay for alot of the time.....

3) Def install YOURSELF. Intake takes 15-20 mins and the exhaust can take up to an hour..... depending on if your using what they provide you with...

4) No regrets at all. I am much happier with the borla after changing plumbing and tips, its much beefier sounding than it was out of the box.
I am most likely going to plug the hole in the front of my intake box with a plumbing plug and hoseclamp so that it is ONLY drawing are from the fenderwell....it think its like a $3 fix...

5) no other mods. I am skeptical of chips on a non-turbo application and there arent any makers o headers so.....

Isnt there welding involved in installing exhaust? I am not sure, but that is what I always thought.

I think Doug Thorley makes headers, but only one person so far has them.

I wonder if anyone has installed a chip on their 4th gen?

not if you buy and use the entire borla/trd kit.... I just wanted it to be louder and be rid of the piping for a 'fake' dual exhaust setup. It cost me $100.
Their kit comes with everything needed, no welding necessary. its just a matter of personal pref... there is a thread here about installing a borla exhaust and you can read/see the steps.

price on intake i got was 283, muffler was 70 bucks with 3inch in and out offset, i had it on my 96 4runner 4banger.

3) How much $$$ to install? Did you take to a shop or DIY?
intake i did myself, muffler costed 160-180 to weld new pipes, custom, 3inch pipes from the cat flange all the way to the end, i have a 07 sport 4x4.

4) Post-install, lets hear your thoughts, ratings, concerns, and any suggetions you have for people looking to do similar mods.
its loud on wot and nice rumble wen crusin.

headers are gona be next if i had the money for it.

hey T?@\7, i called volant the other day cause i was interested in seeing if the tacoma scoop they make which plugs into that hole your talking about would work and they said possibly with modding........... but they also told me they are developing a scoop for the 4runner and it should be out soon.

cool, good info man! i wish they made a snorkel attachment like they do for the jeeps..
