Exhaust issue

Here is the story....

So I am sitting at a light in Chicago with my empty snowmobile trailer in tow. I am front row and notice it merges into one lane. I see an older woman next to me so figured I can get ahead of her to make the merge.

The light turns green and I get on the gas shooting ahead with no problem but at that exact moment my exhaust also got real loud and sounds as if there is a hole in muffler. I haven't crawled underneath to check it out but how can stepping on the throttle hard put a hole in a muffler or pipe.

Has anyone heard of anything coming loose under there. I don't do any offroading and the main reason for the 4Runner is to tow my toys and haul a$$es and big stuff.

Will the warranty cover something like this if it isn't a hole in the muffler or pipe? Aren't they welded and not clamped?

Exhaust is welded but there are sections where it uses a gasket to attach (to the CAT for example). Maybe the gasket was faulty and it is now leaking. Also maybe a piece of metal came off the inside of your muffler and shot out.

Who knows! Take a look down there and see what you can find.

There are a set of bolts down there that I think hold the cat on. Somehow those were loose and now eveything sounds right.

Wow, you're V8 is so powerful it blows the exhaust off!

Torque it down and hopefully they won't come undone again.
