exhaust leak ---> new pipe advice?

Ok. For a long time I have had an exhaust leak in my 85 runner. The other day I took a peek under the hood and sure enough, a cracked manifold. No biggie I ordered a new one and had it installed. I got in and turned the key, the familiar popping and raddling was gone only to be replaced by a more constant gargle and still the smell of exhaust. I now fear that my exhaust pipe is damaged. If I replace the pipe what exactly do I need to get. I recently replaced the cat so I would not like to have to spend the extra money on a new one. What would be the most efficient way to go?

I'd take it to a muffler shop and have the leak welded. Does it sound like it's near or at the flange right under the manifold or further down under? It may be the guy who replaced the cat didn't weld all the way around the pipe . It's hard to see on top.

I think its is right under the manifold. Sounds like it is coming from right in front of the pedals. I am still learning about all this, but I think it is just rusted where it connects to the manifold before the cat. But I am not to sure, and its hard to see.

Try using a dental mirror and some bright light.
