I wonder if the Lexus version might be a better design? Kind of like the rear driveshaft clunking.

Getting my exhaust manifolds replaced on both sides under my power train warranty. 83k miles got bad over winter. Definitely going to get a remote start before next winter to warm the engine up more before driving...

Would be better if someone knows if some headers from the Tundra or Tacoma would fit in. Anyone know anything about that??

where did you buy the parts? did you replace it yet?

after going back and fourth trying to figure out what the problem is, ive now decided to just buy the new manifolds with the catalytic converters. I found both left and right with nuts and studs and gaskets for less than 600 dollars shipped to my house. I dont want to risk attempting to remove the old ones and having everthing break appart due to the rust.

Just hung up with doug thorley, (Mike). He is claiming to have a set of headers for an 06 4.7. , already fabbed. I'm obviously having trouble finding a set of used trd, and am not willing to replace with Toyota tin foil.. This is worth waiting til late Aug, for me at least.. I would suggest calling and getting put on the list. The longer that list (more names of people willing to purchase.) is the more motivating to build and sell...

Yeah I've been working with mike to get a set of headers made into production. He used my headers as part of the mock up.

As you can see, here is the before and after. Given, the bottom are not the finished product, but definitely better than oem. Thy are just tack welded at the moment and still need to be ceramic coated as well. I will keep you guys updated on the other thread in a week or so.

thanks so much. I am anxious to repair this properly. Or I am am dumping it off. Sad thing because I really love this truck. I have had many cars and trucks. this has quickly become my favorite. I am also a dsm guy, so needless to say performance is fairly important. I got cash in hand. Also if u know any lines on a trd supercharger I would be very interested as well. Thanks

Doug Thorley is in the final stages if building the headers. You should be able to expect them next month. They are $750 for stainless steel ceramic coated headers. They will dyno my car once they are on to show the gains from them.

There are no cats attached. You need to get the cat welded to the headers.

I agree, 750 is fair for after market, American made, performance, stainless steel, and ceramic coated headers. Plus these are only ones on the market beside oem for 05-09.

Thank you sir. I appreciate you keeping us informed. Seeing how this truely the only option for us, I am just going to order a set soon. I wreally just want to know the scope of the job because, I only have the 4runner to drive right now. I would still like to see the finished profuct, if possible. what catalytics, (brand) are you planning on using?

I found a manifold!

For all those with '06 and newer 4runners with the dreaded manifold leak...I found a product that worked...and it was cheap. I bought the part and brought it to my mechanic...all in I paid about $900. I think toyota wanted much more than that for just the part. Ticking noise gone, no emission warnings, and I'm back to loving my 4runner!! Below is my vehicle and the manifold options I found online. I bought the Doorman from partsgeek.com listed first below. I know they have the same part for the V6.

I have strange ticking noise from my 4.7l as well. It gets louder when accelerating. From these two videos, can it be concluded that it's the exhaust manifold problem leak?
