ok so i had my truck at the dealership for oil change last tuesday and i had them check for the cracked manifold since i thought i heard the ticking and smelled the exhaust smell. the tech confirmed this by putting the truck on a lift an listening for the ticking. since i have an aftermarket warranty, they had to send someone out. the guy they sent out obviously could not see for himself and hearing the ticking was not good enough. so now this week im taking my truck to a shop recommended by the warranty company. they have to take the truck apart, exposing the manifold, then have someone from the warranty company come out to see the crack...which the parts will be ordered and replaced. BUT...if they take it apart and there is no crack, then I have to pay for the labor involved. this is very frustrating as i will not be without it for like 3-5 more days. i have it now but have to take it to that other shop either wednesday or thursday. this is very frustrating. if the guy at the shop does not think there is a problem then im not gonna do it because i cannot risk having to pay for the labor if everything is fine
Oh and the only reason im taking it to a different shop is because with the dealer's labor costs the warranty company would not be able to cover it 100%
