Exhaust mods anyone?

Has anyone replaced the stock muffler with something less restrictive or done anything else more radical to help improve gas mileage and performance yet?

I am waiting for someone to do this too...I think it would make a world of difference. If Borla had something, I would do it tomorrow.

TRD would be a great cat back option too...but I remember reading somewhere on here that TRD will not be making anything for this new V6 platform. I find it a little hard to believe, but maybe with the bad economy we may not see anything...or at least for a while.

I was playing on Zag earlier (I personally used USAA a year ago), and I saw for the 11' they have an options for the:

TRD CAT-BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM (37) (N/A w/C7 Convenience Pkg or E5 Exhaust Tip) (PPO) - Invoice $385 -- MSRP $599

So is this a carryover from the previous generation that zag thinks will work on ours for some reason or are they planning to release one soon? Just caught my eye, thought I would share.

I think thats just the TRD exhaust tip? Cause when I bought my SR5, it had that exact same description, and than I looked underneath and it was just a TRD exhaust tip not a catback.

Exhaust tip is a different option item - besides $600 for an exhaust tip? lol

No no no lol, I was saying on my invoice when I got my SR5, that same description "TRD CAT-BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM (37) (N/A w/C7 Convenience Pkg or E5 Exhaust Tip) (PPO)" described the TRD exhaust tip lol.

Ok....I looked it back up again, the exhaust tip is a separate line item:

EXHAUST TIP (E5) (PPO) Invoice $46 MSRP $75

The TRD Cat Back description specifically says that it is N/A (Not Available) with the Exhaust Tip (E5), so I have NO idea how that would be the description on your invoice! I am not saying yours does not say that, errors do happen, but I hope you did not pay the $600 charge for a $75 part! Obviously if you get the Cat-Back the exhaust tip will not fit because it is made to fit the stock exhaust not the TRD one (if it even exists). Also you can see it again in the 'Convenience Pkg C7':

CONVENIENCE PKG (C7) -inc: sport pedals w/silver finish, exhaust tip, hood protector (N/A w/37 TRD Cat-back Exhaust System) (PPO)

This says it includes the exhaust tip - but since it does you can not get the Cat-Back system.

I am really interested to see a copy of your sticker, if you kept it, very curious!

Just looked up Borla and they have the 2010 system listed. But it is over $700. :hunter::wow:

Thats great to know. I just looked it up and now I cant wait till I hear it on someones rig. I had the Borla Cat back on my Range Rover sport and loved the sound, but that was a V8. I wonder what itll sound like on the V6. My friend has an FJ with the TRD intake and exhaust and it sounds great so I guesss it would be similar. Soooooo whos going to be the guinea pig?

Any idea what type of horsepower increase he saw with the TRD intake and exhaust? Did it help or hurt his mpg?

They don't have the TRD CAI out yet for our dual vvt-i engines . They wouldn't confirm but I think AFE is who's making it for them and behind the research. They should be out in the next couple of months as I've been watching for it. Alot of talk of it over on the FJ forum.

Exhaust notes are definitely subjective so different people like different sounding exhaust and mufflers. It's mostly dependent on the size of the muffler and how many chambers it has.Generally, the smaller the muffler and the fewer cahmbers ,the louder it is.

i have a super 44 flowmaster this is before i put the intake on it [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-oEb-L-kMv4[/ame]
