Exhaust System Advice Needed

The previous owner of my 2007 SE V6, replaced the exhaust system from the cat back... had a Magnaflow muffler welded in, and the pipe section w/ the resonator removed.

The dealer says to replace it w/ a stock system will run around $800. Ouch.

I can't stand any longer the droning noise the current exhaust makes especially when I'm going up hills etc (which is frequently) and it has an awful drone at 1300-1500 RPM's which I seem to spend a fair amount of time in.

Any advice on options to the stock system? I'd really like something quieter - but am hopeful there is a better option than paying $800 for a stock system.

You want to buy mine for $400 so I can get a TRD cat-back. Look on Ebay for a TRD, not too loud and not $800.

Might be worth paying the $ for the stock system. Toyota's stock parts seem to be pretty good quality.
My prior vehicle, a 2000 Tacoma that I purchased new went 8 years without replacing a single exhaust system part. Might have made 9, but the truck itself was was recalled.

That kind of longevity for an exhaust system here in the salt-encrusted northeast is practically unheard of. Typically, you're lucky to see 4 years out of an aftermarket system.

If I go over 6 years before my T4R's exhaust needs work, I won't even think twice about buying the OEM parts.

How loud is the TRD vs. the stock system?

I definitely want something approach the quiet levels of stock.

go to an exhaust shop like meineke will be cheap and quite. might no last as long as toyota exhaust. but you should price them out.

What did the OP ever do to you? Sheesh!

Those quickie muffler places might be cheap, but I wouldn't let those monkeys put gas in my truck, let alone touch it with a wrench.

And if you do, I've yet to see any muffler shop exhaust system last more than 3 years. That's how they do it so cheap. The parts are garbage.
