Exhaust

Thats going to be hard with the v6 unless you go full Cat back, still your not going to get that "deep" v8 sound. I was in the same boat as you

I have a Flowmaster cat back on mine, and I wouldnt put any other exhaust systems on my rigs. Flowmaster is the way to go for me. IMO the borla or magnaflow makes the v6 sound like a rice burnin SUV. Also Flowmaster is louder at slower speeds, while magnaflow is louder at faster speeds which I like. I wanted to pull my hair out on the freeway in my friends jeep that was magnaflow lol. You can just hear the rumble on mine at highway speeds, little to no "actual noise" at those speeds which is a + IMO since im usually driving for quite a while...

0-40mph though, O BABY its loud :guitar3:

haha hell yeah, thats why I'm tryin to avoid. Rice burnin aint cuttin it. Alex you got a video link some where of your exhaust?

Somewhere I do, Ill look for it after I'm done with the day today, might have to take another one

I personally haven't heard an exhaust for the v6 that doesn't sound somewhat ricey. If you search on youtube for a muffler name and 4.0 v6 or tacoma or FJ (or even tundra) you can get a sense of what the system should sound like on a 4Runner.

I had the Borla muffler and it sounded way too ricey for me, took it off after 2 weeks. After 35-40 it was fine, and I couldn't hear it at highway speeds but I didn't like how loud it was backing out of parking spots and driving around neighborhoods (stop & go stuff).

I'm a big fan of flowmaster on V8s; I've had 2 cat-back setups on my Z71 and plan to equip my Waggy with 1 chambers, but all the V6s I've heard with different series flowmasters sound about the same to me, just different volumes. A V8 or bigger exhaust sounds good, no V6 is gonna have a deep throaty rumble like a V8 does.

Flowmaster Super 44. Had it on my last truck and its the loudest Ive heard. Not sure how it is on v6, but Id imagine it cant be ricey

Good observations. I may switch to Flowmaster down the road.. My Maggie is almost too loud at WOT, but almost silent at idle. I'd rather have it the other way around. Although it is a nice sweet deep grumble around 2k rpms...

Oh my modding may never stop... haha
