Extended service contract

Extended service contract and Southeast Toyota Dealers

I plan on buying the Platinum service contract that Shaun McKinsey has offered here. The question I have is: I live in North Carolina, which is part of the Southeast Toyota Dealers. They seem to have there own deal going separate from the rest of the country. Toyota of Concord (owned by Rick Hendrick) wants $1400 plus $150-200 to "look it over" before my 3-36k is up for a 6 year 100k. Toyota's site for info on the extended warranty states:

Programs not available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, North Carolina, South Carolina and Puerto Rico.

Most of which is part of the Southeast Toyota Dealers Assoc. So, if I buy the extended service contract from Shaun, will they have to honor it in NC? Has anyone in the Southeast bought the warranty from Shaun and tried to use it?

Yes. I made the purchase this morning. Took 2 minutes. He said NC dealers would have to honor it. My truck has 35,500 miles now and I have a few things for the dealer to fix, so as soon as my contract paperwork arrives in the mail I'll take it in and see what they have to say. I imagine there will be some whining that I didn't purchase it from them, but the one I got is backed by Toyota, so..........

kewl good luck to you bro. I wish I had waited 'cause you guys are paying less than what I paid when I bought the extended at time of my truck's purchase. Oh well, water under the bridge. I knew I wanted one from the get-go since I am planning to keep this truck for a very very long time and seeing all the electronic doohickies I knew it'd be expensive to fix...
