What a rip off

I am almost at 36,000 miles, so I called my local stealer...

6year/100 k Platinum bumper to bumper quote was $1,890

5year/100k Gold ($50 deductable per issue) quote was $1,645

so I called Shaun McKinsey at Palmiero Toyota (as mentioned by others on this site) at 800 331 5056

Platinum $795 with tax. Sold! :bigok:

Thats a nice price . I take it is a Toyota warranty and good at any dealer correct ??

I will have to hit him up my self. So bumper to bumper covers everything ....... thats great.

Wish I knew about those prices before. Got a Gold one for 5yrs, 60k miles for $1770. Damn. It says I can cancel it within 3 months.

I wont have the paper work for a few days, but I bought it from a toyota stealer...

so we will see - according to the sales guy shaun/sean?, he said it will show in all toyota dealers computer systems as a toyota platinum warranty

im guessing its the factory waranty

but my understanding is it is 'insured' (i might be using the wrong word there) by a company behind toyota who sell it and then they bank on nothing ever going wrong

my buddy just burried his toyota at 260k miles - totaly wore out. and nothing failed until it was over 200k miles
 
don't get too cocky

There are things that aren't covered by those wonderful "bumper to bumper" warrantys. "Wear" items are never covered. That means brakes. I've read several(numerous?) discussions of frozen calipers on late model 4runners. Up to 2k to replace everything. (calipers, rotors, pads)
Not covered.
THose are some unhappy warranty purchasers!
The drivetrain is really the only potentially expensive to repair part, and that has years longer anyway on the stock warranty.
It's a Toyota for goodness sake. Put that $1,000 in a savings account for that big repair in the sky and chances are it will have earned you interest in years to come. :bigok:

for my health, my family, my house, my cars etc

what of it - my cash my decision.

I see this as nothing more than a bit more insurance. I take your points about what is and is not included - all valid and good to know.

My only point was, for those of us who do choose to buy some insurance, I managed to get some for 1/2 of what my local guy tried to sell it to me for.

I did the same. I purchased the 6yr 100k platinum plan in the event that I keep my truck after the lease. If I let my buddy buy me out, he agreed to cover the cost, which was 725 I believe. Excellent deal.
 
Just a little clarification for me please....

Are you able to buy an extended warrenty from ANY dealership even if you bought the truck from some where else? Also.... can that warrenty be purchased at any time, or does it need to be purschased within a certain time after you buy the truck??

My 08' should be here in about a month, so I need to get straight what extra rip offs I should avoid or invest in.

Someone can clairfy but I believe as long as you get the warranty while you are still within your original 3 year bumper-to-bumper warranty you can get one. I have to get one soon as mine 3 year will be up in May and I have already had the sunroof replaced 4 times...not impressed with their quality in sunroofs....

I purchased my Toyota Platinum Extended Warranty from Shaun McKinsey at Palmiero Toyota about
one month before my original 3 yr/36 mo warranty expired.

When I purchased my 4Runner I was told by the salesman at my dealer that the extended
warranty could be purchased any time after the sale as long as I did it before the original warranty expired.
 
I just bought a 7/100 from Shaun too... 2 wks before my 3/36 expired on my 05.

Will see how it goes... hopefully I'll never need it.
 
I bought my Platinum extended warranty from Shawn after my T4R was past the initial 3/36 period. The warranty is noted as being on a Used car (which it was, I just bought my '04).

My Platinum warranty is for 4 years, 50k miles for $1500 on an '04 T4R with 45k miles on the OD.

It is the real deal. Bought mine from Shaun a couple years back (for $700 then), and it has saved me around $5k in warranty issues - mostly electronics. The warranty pulls right up on the local dealer's computer - sweet!
