I just picked up an Extended Warranty from Neil @ Molle Toyota on Wed of last week. It was the Platinum 7 year/100k warranty with 0 deductible for $875.

There's only one problem with the extended warranty... I got one when my runner hit 36K miles. Now it has 69K miles. I have not used the warranty at all. The truck has performed flawlessly, with literally not a single problem.

Maybe my experience isn't typical, and I'm not unhappy that I got the warranty. But, I haven't had to use it, and I really don't believe I will have to before it expires.

So, that's the only problem with the warranty. You don't actually use it.

At least, I haven't.

I can live with that problem.

I just purchased a 2006 Certified Used vehicle, had a little less then 36k on it when I purchased it. To me the Extended Warranty was worth the peace of mind.

For someone that purchased the vehicle new and knows the history of the car, including maint history, it may not be worth it.

It just like insurance, one of the those things you want to have, but hopefully you'll never need it.

Those prices aren't as high as I thought they would be. I am picking up an 07 SE this week and have been thinking about an extended warranty. The truck only has 12000 miles on it, but still something to think about. Thanks for the info.

The selling dealer tried to sell me a Extended warranty for a lot more $$, saying it was normally $2400, but they were running a special. it was still considerably more then from Neil
