Extending Warranty on your 4Runner?

When I purchased my 4Runner in 2003, I got a 5 year 75,000 miles platinum extended warranty. I feel that I will run out of miles before the truck is paid off in 2008. Is it possible to add more years and/or miles to your existing warranty?:bonk:

If you do it before the basic factory warranty runs out at 3/36K.

I have the 5/50K platinum and it will be long gone on mileage by the time I hit 5 years.

I paid $680 for my 5/50K, how much did they hit you up for the add'tl 25K miles?

Send an email to the guy selling them and he may be able to work something out for you.

Ask for Scott Moss, John Ward, Jenna or Betty.

I got my 7/100/$0 from Scott for $795 total.....

If you are refering to me, I never recieved any email from you. That's probably why you never recieved any response; If you are refering to someone else, my apologies for speaking out of turn. I do try to respond as soon as possible to answer all questions that anyone might have.

However... to answer your origional question: If you have already purchased a VSA through Toyota (ie platinum) you are not allowed to add any add'l coverage once the program is active.

A long ago thread but...Just wondering if anyone who purchased the Toyota Platinum Warranty from out of state has had good luck with it. I know it was a huge savings but have you used it and have you had any problems with your local Toyota Dealer not honoring it?

As far as the Dealer honoring the Warranty...

They have to. It was part of the dealer agreement they signed when they purchased the franchise. It costs the dealer nothing, as Toyota will pay for the repair as stated in the repair manual.

Nevertheless...

It states basically that "It's good at any Toyota dealership in the US & Canada"

I think I remember a friend of mine purchasing a warranty plan from AAA. If I'm right, they calculate the cost of it by make, model, year and mileage.

Sounds like the question was answerd already. But I purchased one from Shuan (who replied to this). His dealership is in PA, I'm in AZ, and it paid 100% for a traction control computer a couple months back - to the tune of around $1,300 (just like you said Shaun: it was the electronics!). Add to that a yaw sensor my local dealer replaced by mistake, and total charges came to around $2,100 - all covered by the Platinum warranty I got from Shaun.

I was the originator of that other thread refered to on here. Shaun beats the dealerships I mentioned in the 1st message (read further down in the thread). He is a good guy to talk to as well, who of course, owns a 4th gen himself!
