Extra ground wires???

I have seen pics and read about people adding extra ground wires (earthing wires) . Usually red.(?) I have done a few searches about it but can't find the reasoning behind it.

Does the Toyota have Radio noise issues due to poor grounding of the engine and accessory components?

What gives? And why the heck RED? Have the wife/girlfriend clip a jumper cable to that why don't ya! HA!

Our vehicle uses W-B (white wire with a small black stripe) or BR (solid brown wire) for the grounds. Never red.

exactly! that is what I am used to.

I just saw/read about adding heavy gauge ground wires under the hood and found it odd. I asked as I couldn't find out the "WHY" of it. The red thing was sarcasm on my part after seeing pics of the "mod" done up in red wiring. Pretty damned dangerous if you ask me for those who don't know what they are.

Sorry I missed your sarcasm. Generally it is not the best idea to use red as ground, but if your doing it yourself and you have no green available (because no one I know stocks W-B or brown in their garage), then IMO it is fine. Especially if you keep the vehicle until it

I think he's talking about ground wires like mine. Colors does not matter when you ADD grounding wires. I highly recommend NOT to replace your stock OEM wires. But if you are required to, i recommend going to the dealer and get them. Do not get aftermarket grounding wires. I got red aftermarket ground wires because i just like to dress up my engine bay.

But for 'earthing wires' as people may say, to me, it gives me more light to my bulbs, noticed my throttle body reacted better, also noticed my TINY LITTLE static sound gone, etc. Of course there's other reasons behind this but usually you don't need more than 3-5 wires. For mine, it was a kit so it came with a bunch of them. I recommend getting a dark color ground wires or a normal ground wires you could get from the hardware store. The kit i bought was not worth the price because it should of been cheaper but eh, it's all good.
