Extra rear window switch in cargo area mod?

Has anyone thought of putting an extra, always-on, switch in the cargo area that controls the power rear window?

I envision it being useful when camping and sleeping inside, so you wouldn't have to climb over the front seat to power up the truck for the back door windows to work...

Thoughts?

That and converting the 12v recepticles to constant on, right after that second battery install.

Seems like a great idea...can't imagime it being that big of a deal (btw...all my week long pojects start with that phrase)

I know this is an old thread, but I have this exact same question and I found it using the search feature. I camp in the back. Has anyone found away to open/close rear windows and back window from inside vehicle without having to crawl to front seat and put the key in the ignition?

Im thinking maybe you could actually install in the back hatch itself? The motor for the rear window is right there, but I would think you would have to find a hot wire that would allow power to the switch and the motor...

The easiest way I could think of was just basically mimicking the tailgate key hold and turn...when you turn the key one way it connects two wires together at the multiplex door ecu (found in the tailgate); and when you turn it the other way it connects the other wire. Basically just a momentary SPDT switch. I was planning to try this when I have more time, but I am pretty sure it will work fine if you run three wires from the tailgate to where ever you want the switch and hook it up to a momentary ON-OFF-ON SPDT switch. This switch may or may not work while the vehicle is running, but you can easily try this out by sticking in your key and turning and holding to see
