Extra wiring harness and a broken switch

I bought my white 2006 SE V8 4x4 T4R three weeks ago and love it! This is my first post since I bought it because I've been able to find the answers to all my other questions before now. I've already done the drl cutoff mod, fog light mod, and cargo organizer (thanks to JA for the write ups). My only complaint is gas mileage but I got used to driving a V6 Accord for the last 3 years that got 28-31 mpg on the interstate depending on my driving style. The T4R is so much more practical for western Colorado weather and roads though.

I took apart the lower part of the dash to do the DRL cutoff mod yesterday and found a third wiring harness where the RSCA and center diff lock buttons are. I do not have the 115 v outlet. Any one know anything about this harness? I didn't think to test if and when the wires are powered when I had the dash apart :ybrick:. I'm going to add offroad lights someday and wonder if I could use it for that switch. I did a search but could only find a thread on the extra harnesses in the center console and IIRC it didn't answer the other question I had on if those harnesses can be used for the heating elements in Wet Okole seat covers.

Also, the lower tab that holds the RSCA button in the dash opening broke off so now it's just kinda hanging in the opening. Any way I can "fix" this without buying a new switch?

Hey 9704Runner, enjoy your new 4runner. It is for the 115v outlet. My truck did not come with this option but I was able to add it. You need to buy the 115V push switch, outlet that goes in the center console and the inverter that goes in the trunk. (Inverter costs about $1K at stealership, but I picked mine up at a junk yard for $15!) My total investment was about $100.

Imdav2u, it is pretty easy:

1) Install a relay in the engine compartment relay box. (Already wired)
2) Install AC 115V on/off switch to dash. (Already wired)
3) Install 115V AC outlet in the center dash (Already wired) (Although there is not cutout for the electrical outlet in the center dash, once you took the dash out you will see an outline on the plastic. You can cut it very easily with a utility knife by following that outline)
4) Install power inverter in the trunk. (Need to run 3 wires yourself)

Steps 1, 2, and 3 are super easy, plug & go. Step 4 involves taking the side panels off in the trunk, and running 3 wires to the front of the vehicle as my 4Runner had all wires and plugs but not the wiring from trunk to front of the vehicle. I bought the inverter very cheap from a junk yard so the whole thing was a couple of hours of efford and about $100.

I helped a friend to install this mod to his 4Runner. He wanted more power, so we installed a non-toyota inverter in the trunk.

Thanks for the info - the 115 v outlet is something I did want but this one had everything else I wanted.
