Rear LCA mount skids! This has been discussed before and there have even been prototypes made. No one that I am aware of has gone into production. I personally will be making my own as soon as the weather permits. Not everyone has the equipment or ability to make there own and I do not have the time or equipment to go into production.

I wonder how it would look if you were to combine the light bar like the one in the pics posted with a lower part to mount more lights? make it look like a tube bumper but a little bit more low profile and you can still use it with your stock bumper???

X2 on the floating light mounts. Also i was thinking some sort of low profile bull bar (nothing like the Westin one) but a bar of some sort to mount some lights on would look good

I like this idea. I have wanted a sturdy functioning push bar.bull bar that was well made and not gaudy and cheap looking that ended just under the front valance.
Something that was one piece frame mounted and strong. Something for the dudes that like the stock look, but want a little more front end armor without losing the front bumper.

sweet! i knew there would be some interest in some sturdy light mounts. i have an 01, so if you make them to fit that 00, you definitely have a customer here!

ive been looking at making something like that for my rig, but i dont have a large amount of tools at my disposal. and yes, clem has the right idea. top mounted lights in his pictures, and heck, if you're bored, possibly some more floating light mounts that go on either side of the license plate for a set of fogs.

Is there anyway this could be universal, as in fitting 96-02. I know they have different grills, but maybe something could be rigged to fit all years.

I think if the hood/grill interface or the grill/bumper interface is similar it should work.

I like the lights idea.

I can't stand the light bars (just waiting to get ripped off in a water crossing or by another driver). Plus they decrease your approach angle and they're gaudy. As if the 99+ bumper didn't already stick out two miles.

But if there was just a simple bracket that stuck out barely enough to allow a light to be mounted, without any compromise to angle or anything, totally down for some. Hope they look good, the 4th gen isn't too pretty IMO. I'm totally feeling the lights on the 3rd gen.

if your that concerned about approach angle and what not why no just drill a hole on top of the bumper and mount lights directly to the bumper. It worked for me awhile back

and i dont understand the ripped off part??? how is a water crossing going to rip off a light bar? and another driver? i think if someone hits your light bar you have bigger issues.

i want a stronger mount for the lights instead of right into the bumper. not enough metal there to make a strong mount imo

i took mine off and had holes too, then on day i found chrome hole plugs that snapped in the holes perfectly and you could barely notice them

I took a look at my truck and there is definitely something that can be done to mount to the some of the bolts on the radiator/condenser areas. The two horns are in a great spot to be anchors as well as other close bolt holes. It shouldn't be hard to make brackets to snake around over or through the grill.

I do have a question though since I don't have lights like you all want to mount. Are they usually bottom mounted? also what diameter do they usually come in? ~4"?

Yep. Bottom mounted.

My lights are 7.32" in diameter and are 3.46" deep. They are also 8.58" tall with the bracket.

what if, in the sake of simplicity, you made two bars that run parallel, and level with the ground that are connected to the radiator mounts or something. then you could attach some sort of L brackets to that, which would stick out past the grill and the lights would mount too. that way we could choose how far apart our lights are mounted, and how many lights we want.

oh, and possibility of being able to run mounts on either side of the license plate as well.

I looked at this. It'll more than likely be the the mounting bar will be blank so that you can drill holes where you want depending on where you want the lights. But, this can be up to you all depending on how far you want me to take it. I looked at the front license plate mounting option and it could also be done that way. It isn't all that rigid though so I don't know how well the frame metal and the lights would stand up to it. There would be a lot of shaking and vibration which I do not think you all would like.

The main thing I spent some time with was connected off the radiator supports since that'll give the best rigidity in my opinion. I'll keep on it and find the best solution.

I already got some "L" bracket mounts right beside the license plate holes and as y'all know it's just plastic right there.

They definitely shake. When I'm driving with the lights on at night I can see them jumping around a good bit.

That's why I would like a more rigid support.
