He cut his bumper up a lot to fit those bottom ones.

Found a good place. The front grill may have to be removed for install, but that is easy. Here's my idea. I'll put something together and then show you all.

It comes out right here on top of the bumper. Should be very easy and secured with 4 small bolts. I was just using some cardboard to see how it fit.

if you do it in a bar form PIAA makes these light mounts that will clamp on

Would the holes come pre drilled?

How far would it sit off the bumper?

Everything would be predrilled and ready to install aside from you having to remove the grill. The grill just pops off. I'll start fabing a prototype after Christmas. I'll have a few options and post them up and we can see what the group wants. I'll like to provide something that can be easily installed and I can even provide the fasteners. That shouldn't be an issue. The 1 1/8" bar is a good idea. I don't know if you all would rather have a flat bar to bolt/attach lights onto or use that adapter. Again, I'll make what the board wants.

I'll get back in the shop next weekend after vacation and post some pics. Keep the ideas coming though as that will lead to the final prototype options you all want.

I personally would just like to have a flat bar.

I don't really want to spend another $45 on some clamps.

Taking the grill off isn't a problem. I've done it plenty of times.

On a small side note, where can you buy more of those clips that the grill uses? Over time I've broken a few of them.

I had a really good idea for a structural part on sportbikes a few years back.

Everybody I talked to said "Man, why didn't I think of that" or "I'll give you a cash down payment now until they are ready".

Then, I started checking into liability, what it would cost to insure and start an LLC to do it, and my idea withered into the dust.

The thing you have to take into account, especially if you are building something that is considered a structural or key element of a vehicles stabilty (like a suspension component) is that IF somebody get's injured or dies and sue's you - whether by their own fault or your product's failure, you can lose everything you have.

In todays litiguous society, it's all too real and makes me wonder how many great ideas die on the blackboard.

and thats probably why nothing he has made so far has been structural. but keep the products coming. i agree with clem, flat bar would be best i think. what light doesn't already mount to a single pre drilled hole.

i may be looking into some fabrication shops myself and see if they can make some simple brackets where i can mount my PIAA's to the lower valance (sp?) but im looking forward to what you got goin down too!

I have an idea for the factory fog light owners here:

Hella made a splash/rock guard for the micro DE's. They dont make them anymore but I would sure love a set.

Sorry guys, I've been so freakin' tied up lately with work and home. April should be a little better. I did take some time and I don't think the original places will work to mount it, but there could be one on the bumper. I'll spend more time on it this weekend.
