Factory Alarm issue on my 92

Ok i have the OEM alarm installed on my 92 SR5. it has a little sensitivity box under the drivers seat. well i like the alarm, but the annoyance is that if i have any door open for longer than 30 seconds without the key in the ignition, the alarm goes off. Im not sure if it is supposed to be like this or not. I mean if i want to take a bag out of the rear and want to leave it open, then i have to put the key in the ignition and turn it to atleast the "ACC" position. this seems wrong. Is this supposed to be happening?

To answer my own question and possibly help someone else searching later, i went to toyota today, where im friends with most of the Techs, and my buddy who also has a 2nd gen runner, programmed a key-fob to arm and disarm the system. Problem solved.
