Factory Alignment Specs

Hi guys, I just finished the Daystar 2.5/1.5 last week and will be taking the 4Runner in for front-end alignment.

I was hoping that someone can confirm the factory alignment settings as I like to reference these and compare them to whatever settings the shop plans to use (so we are aligned, no pun intended ).

Thanks for the input guys.

As suspected, the Daystar 2.5/1.5 caused excessive positive camber and negative toe.

Everything aligned within spec except for the caster. They maxed the caster out at +1.9deg and couldn't get anymore. I'm not sure if that's an effect of the Daystar?

Previous Alignment Specs After Daystar:
+0.7deg Camber +0.7deg
+1.6deg Caster +1.7deg
-0.15deg Toe +0.06deg

New Alignment Specs:
-0.5deg Camber -0.5deg
+1.9deg Caster +1.9deg maxed
+0.03deg Toe +0.05deg

I'll have to check the alignment specs before the Daystar tonight, for comparison of how much the Daystar actually changed the specs.

That's an effect of any lift and why most people decide to upgrade to aftermarket upper control arms with either more caster built in or adjustable caster if they can't get back into factory spec. They have other added benefits of increased inner tire to UCA clearance and more droop angle if your shocks allow it.

Yes, I had to get SPC upper control arms on my Lexus when I lowered it, so I'm very familiar with this.

Luckily the camber and toe are well in spec which I was most concerned about.

Hopefully the +1.9 is close enough that I won't notice any adverse effects.

As blackoutt says, the limited caster is the result of the lift.

I replaced my UCA's with adjustable ones from SPC. I'm very happy with the results. I went from 2.3 degrees of caster after the lift to 4.5 deg now, which is more than spec, but I really like how the vehicle drives now. Very stable on the road. Even before my lift, when caster was about 3.5 degrees, I felt that the steering was too touchy at freeway speeds. Probably because I'm used to the recirculating ball steering on my '94, and going to the more responsive rack and pinion on the '06 made it feel overly sensitive. At any rate, the 4.5 deg caster is a dream to drive.

The SPC's were not tough to install - probably took me three hours total, including backtracking myself a time or two. They have a greaseable upper ball joint, so should have a good service life.

Just for shits and giggles, I took a look at my alignment specs a year ago (so a year before the Daystar).

-0.7 camber -0.7
+2.8 caster +3.0
+1/32" toe +1/32"

If nothing changed in the past year (I doubt it did), then the Daystar 2.5/1.5 was responsible for adding +1.4deg of camber, -1.2 or -1.3deg of caster.

It doesn't look like the total toe was as affected as I expected, but it certainly threw the symmetry off between the two wheels.

Point is, for those that are debating the need for an alignment, my numbers show that you 100% do need an alignment after the Daystar lift!

This is a .pdf from the Toyota dealership when the 2007 was aligned a few days ago. Odd that they don't have specs for SAI, cross camber, cross caster, cross SAI. Looks like the recommended specs differ some also.

I had BrakesPlus align the 2008 today and was comparing the two spec sheets, BrakesPlus had the recommended specs as Blackoutt posted, had the specs listed that the Toyota dealer did not.
