Guys,

Are the factory fog lamps on a 99 limited really sealed or when I take it apart will I find a $3 bulb that can be replaced?

The dealer wants a fortune to replace the entire assembly for a burned out bulb :-(

thanks!

they are not exactly being truthful. i had a burned out bulb a couple times in my 99, and in my 02 before i finally got rid of that hideous bumper. it is a 3$ bulb, i forget exactly how you get to it, but i remember it not being that difficult. if you take some pictures of the assembly it might spark something and i might eb abel to help you out

I replaced one on my '99 a while ago. There is an inexpensive bulb in the housing. The owners manual should explain how to get it out. I know you go from behind the assembly and I seem to remember taking out three screws on back and the bulb was held in by a metal "spring-type" clip that swivels out of the way after you squeeze it to release the bulb.
At some point in there you have to remove the power plug also.

If this helps, I have the factory replacements from PP and I've upgraded the bulbs to super whites w/o an issue. Just go under the truck, unscrew a few things, and there you go.

You can change the bulbs in the stock fogs. Throw some piaa's in there. I have these on my site, for the 4runner and they DO WORK!

Comparo.
