Factory fog light switch (dash)

Good day all. Wiring up my Hella 500s and could not bear the thought of drilling into the dash cutout blanks.


I had been searching several of the forums on how to wire up a Toyota factory fog light switch. I will edit the thread to include the part number as soon as I can verify the exact one I bought.

This was the best link I could find to simply state which terminal equates to which wire.

A quick thank you to a number of you regulars for your ongoing suggestions and improvements. You know who you are-but do not think I take you all for granted.

I really enjoy reading about each others' rides and have gotten a lot of good ideas for cheap and easy mods to put some unique touches to my vehicle. Thanks again.

did you use the tacoma light swtich?

that does appear to be the same switch. $12something at dealership with my Landcruiser Assoc. membership discount.

No trouble finding the switch itself, just in finding a wiring diagram to know which terminal connected to which wire exactly.

Yeah, I bought that same switch at the dealership for $10 or something like that.

Out of curiosity, where will you be mounting your Hella's?

holes on ARB bumper already there

center section of the ARB bumper has two pre-drilled holes already in place. I considered the upper tab mounts but did not want the lights sticking up and blocking my view of the road.

Considered using them "upside down" from those same tabs but just seemed like an invitation for vandals and the random stone throw from vehicles I am tailgating.

I was kind of shocked to see how light in weight and plastic bodied the Hella 500s were. Not the way I remembered my first set, but they seem to work just as well or better.

p nut- my company's manufacturing facility is in Ogden so I may hit you up next time I am out there for some places near the Salt Lake metro area for wheeling.

But I will probably be in a rental Heep so make sure and not recommend anything too challenging!! (just giving you Jeep owners some ammo.....):awais:

Ah, didn't see the ARB bumper in your sig. Have you done a test fit? I don't think they will obstruct your view that much.

Yeah, let me know when you're out here. I actually work up near Ogden and live in SLC. There are a few trails that the Jeep could probably handle. Mainly mall parking lots and such, but we'll find you something. Oh, and be sure to sign up for the best insurance the rental company offers you.

prong #2 is in and #3 is out to the lights. # 4 is ground for the orange light

Measures 39mm by 21mm. I'm hoping yes, since it would look awesome as the new switch for my soon to be LED light bar. If not, I'll go with this one:

Is your question electrical, or physical? Electrical should not be a problem. As to physical, the Toyota switch is 37x20mm and the other is 39x21mm. I'm sure it can be made to fit, but it will take a little artistry with a Dremel and a small file to enlarge the hole. Seems like they went to the larger hole in the 4G 4Runners.

Questions was of dimensions, sorry that wasn't too specific. Thanks for the wiring diagram though.

So they are different sizes... bummer. I might go with the OEM... I'll have to think about if I want to permanently alter the opening or not. 2mm isn't a whole lot though, I might try one anyway. Only $12.
