factory foglights: Anyone try HIR2 bulbs?

I just installed Philips HIR1 bulbs in the low beams of my 98 Accord. The lumens and light on the ground are just amazing.

I did modify the top tier tab to fit a 9oo6 low beam housing. And I am using a wiring harness.

Just wondering if anyone has tried HIR2 or HIR1 bulbs in the factory foglights?

*** Not interested in HID
*** I understand HID is superior and cost efficient these days.

I'm running Philips HIRs in headlights (9012), high beams (9011) and foglights (9012) . Yes, they are as great as they say. They are nearly as bright as my other car's projector HIDs and about twice as bright as the normal halogens that I replaced. There are no downsides, get them.

Although you'll probably find that the headlights and high beams make the most difference, the fogs are mostly aimed at the near ground.

I assume you had to modify the top tier tab. After modifying how well did the bulb fit? Did it snap and lock into place snug? Or is it loose? The HIR1 is loose in my accord low beam housing.


Now not sure what to do with the PIAA 9006 night techs that I bought?


I assume the Philips HIR2 out perform the PIAAs?

All mine locked into place. I modified mine with a toenail clipper. Make sure you don't clip off too much.

No, they are not HIDs, there are no colors. If you want 5k bulbs, buy the exact same headlight HIDs you already have, it's the same socket.
