Not the best description in the title but I cannot think of anything better, I was installing a CB antenna and used one of the bolts holding the factory hitch to mount the bracket. Its the bolt closest to the bumper. There was some sort of spring ( straight wire spring - no coils - diameter close to a coat hanger. It was above the hitch. There was a mounting plate and then the top nut for the bolt. Does anyone have a clue what this spring is there for? I cannot think of any reason a bolt that holds the hitch to the frame needs a spring. It looks like th spring provides tension on the plate - so the tensions is horizontal and left to right.
