factory hitch - easy bolt on?

I'm planning on putting on a factory hitch (type that mounts to the cross-member with 6 bolts) on my 4runner that did not come with a factory hitch from the factory. Are there holes already predrilled for the hitch or will I have to do so? Wondering whether this will be a simple bolt-on procedure or if drilling will be required.

I believe this is a simple bolt on procedure with no drilling required. I had the dealer do mine because I didn't have the time myself but would have otherwise. Also, I was only given one option, the heavier duty hitch that came on the V8's. I have the V6.:thumb3:

Bolt-on and fairly easy... I say fairly because the attach bolts above the resonator are PIA to tighten due to limited space. It's not impossible just tedious and slow. Remove the spare tire for the install, that makes it much easier!

Thanks for the input. I'm changing my bumper cover out at the same time so maybe that'll give me more room to work with.

The cross member mount is harder than the frame mount because of the bumper cover but if you're removing the bumper cover anyways then it's a piece of cake. Threaded holes are already there. No need to remove spare etc and the resonator is in the way of the frame mount hitch.

If you're skills/experience have you doing the bumper cover by yourself I'll revise my previous statement. The hitch install is really easy except for the bolt(s) above the resonator. One bolt is annoying, one is a borderline PITA.

The hitch install is really easy except for the bolt(s) above the resonator.

The cross member mounted hitch (bumper mount) which the op is talking about is nowhere near the resonator.

One side of the frame mount hitch is blocked by the resonator. Not a big deal, just slide the rear hanger out of the rubber mount and and you can pull the exhaust to the side enough to access the bolts.

Nashville, I've had 2 of the Curt ones (13445) and its really nice. Solid, my first one took a rear end hit at 50mph which bent it slightly but saved my T4R from damage. The fit and paint finish is good. You will have to modify the 7 pin plug mount though as it doesn't have a mounting on it. I used the factory mount bracket, just bent it flat and reinstalled. A little longer to reach up and under the bumper but it's hidden, not exposed and ugly like the hidden hitch model.

I'm replacing my curt hitch with the factory hitch. I only use the hitch for my bike rack and like the cleaner look of the factory hitch. If anyone is looking for a curt hitch let me know. Less Than a year old and looking to get around 100 for it. Looking for local sale to avoid having to ship. Local being Louisiana.

Wish I had known you were looking to sell. I had posted in the classifieds section looking for a factory hitch but never got a response. Just bought one of those from internet toyota parts dealer for more than that!
