Factory Jack... is it good enough?

One of my friends at work today got a flat tire on her little Hyndai (bald tires with metal showing through haha). Anyways after helping her I realized that since I put the Toytec lift on my truck I never checked to see if the factory jack would even work. Correct me if i'm wrong but im pretty sure we have little bottle type jacks right? Not those crappy scissor jacks. Will it reach? I am running a 3" Toytec lift.
And if you do use the factory jack would it work the same as when the truck was stock now that the center of gravity is thrown off?
Maybe time for a hi-lift jack? :jump::jump::jump:

Well, I just painted my wheels and have to say I don't see it working on your truck if you have a lift. I used an aftermarket jack on the frame and it barely had enough lift on it. I did use the bottle jack on the control arm to get the wheel back on, but I'm under the impression that it isn't a good idea to jack the truck up there? My 97 is a 2WD, stock height.

carry a couple 4x4s with you to put under the jack if it doesnt reach, im pretty sure mine still works with my lift though.

Put it under your axles and it will work just fine, Lift or no lift, the only affecting thing would be tire size. I have 33's and it works fine.

I was hoping someone else would point that out...

But the bottle jack? Only in emergency, and you'd probably have to look around for a chunk of 4x4 or a big rock to set it on...

Regardless, it's a good time for y'all to check under your rear passenger seat to see if everything's there. My first T4R had the bottle jack but no crank. My Ltd has the bottle jack and crank, but the O-shaped part on the bottle jack is cracked off so is totally useless for actually cranking up the jack.

I've got the same setup and the stock jack works just fine.

yep, the bottle jack can raise a tire off the ground no prob with or without a lift kit on there. Hi-Lift plus sliders is way faster though!

Yeah, the Hi-lift + sliders is key. Without sliders, you don't really have any points to jack the truck up on a Hi-lift.

I'd position under the crossmember bar that the lower control arms mount to. Put it on the side that you want to be lifted.

As already said, the factory lift points are under the rear axle and on one of the nubs at the end of the front LCA by the wheel.

If you want a little more height and/or a bigger foot print...

LOL. Cool. On the LCA works, but I thought we shouldn't jack the vehicle there? Anyway, much appreciated.

Thanks for all your help and posts! I am taking a road trip from NJ to MA in two weeks and it dawned on me that I never checked that damn jack. I have all the vital other tools for changing the tire (4 way tire iron, large breaker bar, etc...) but I still think I should throw a floor jack back there.

Funny addition to the story of my friends car. She never rotated her tires so the rim was literally rusted/welded to the rear drum. I spent a good 20 minutes trying to break that damn tire loose. I knew my efforts were wasted when the tow truck came and hooked a chain from the tire to the bed of his truck and tried to pull the tire off. This only resulted in dragging the car across the parking lot sideways. FAIL!
