factory jack

Im getting ready for a cross country drive so i pulled ou tmy factory jack to test it. I wa trying to jack up the rear wheel and here are the problems in incurred:

1. no sufficent place to jack up the car on. the jack head is small and round and the only place low enough was just to right of the rear diff and thats round.
2. the jack has to be fully extended and seems very wobbly. IS there a mounting spot that I am missing?

HOpe i dont get a flat on the 3000 mile trip.

yeah i did. thats no help. it gives you a general drawing which works for the front but not the back. my manual is a 96 but i doubt it changed from 96 to 98.

tested it to day on the front suing teh specified mounting point and that thing is a piece of crap. it is very unstable and barely gets the tire off the ground. anyone know of any good places to buy a suv jack.

I changed out a front tire a few days ago using the factory jack and it worked great.

maybe I have the wrong jack then. Mine seemed fully extended and was acting real nervous.
