I recently purchased a 12' Kayak and went to pick it up and the Kayak dealer wanted to check out my factory rack and crossbars before securing Yak to rack.He grabbed my rack and gave it a tug and said wow this thing is really built well and I could haul just about anything up there without worry.I said they are all like this right ??? He said most domestic racks especially Fords are really built cheap and are for cosmetic looks only.He grabbed a rack on a new Explorer and gave it a tug and it started to pull right out of the roof,and would not let customer take his new Yak away and said it was not safe to haul anything up there.He shook my whole 4Runner when checking mine and said it was one of the strongest factory racks he had ever seen !!!! I will post pics !!!
