Factory radio help

I have an '06 SR5 V8, with the base radio/CD player (no SAT/JBL). I am yanking it in favor of an Alpine single din. As I was disconnecting the factory radio, I noticed 2 cables in the back (both of which were plugged into the factory radio) that look exactly like antenna connections. After some trial and error I figured out that the larger of the two connections was in fact the antenna. Does anyone out there know what the smaller connection is for? I consulted a car audio installer and he had no idea what it was for.

ah the Toyota diversity antenna strikes again..

Its the antenna built into the glass, and not needed.

Just tape it off (so it doesnt get rusty or anything) and zip-tie it to the other antenna wires line (just to keep everything neat)

You dont need it, the big one will be fine.

Thanks for your help!
Im assuming that both antennas cables connected to the antennas in the glass...one on the drivers side and one on the passengers side? I noticed that on one side the antenna lines (in the glass) are vertical and the other side is horizontal. With only the one cable now connected, will I have less reception?
