Factory Remote Start + Door Override?

I am considering a remote start for the truck before the winter season and while I think after market maybe the way to go (lots of features , range etc) I am still considering the OEM system due to only having one fob. Not really wanting to use the cellphone enabled systems that allow control from the phone

Can someone with a factory remote start start the car while in it (with the remote) and then stick the key in and turn the ignition in the on position. Does the truck die?

Curious if having a door override switch (or a permanent solution if desired) would potentially solve the issue of the factory remote start shutting off when opening the door. I have not looked into this at all except for forum searches but it seems likely that installing a override switch wouldn't be to much of a challenge......... as a bonus it may give you the ability to set crawl control and get out (no idea why one would do this but just a thought)

This for a 2014 TEP.

With the Toyota factory VIP alarm, in order to start you would have to hit lock twice fast, then hit lock again and hold for 3secs to start the car.

This would leave the car locked. The moment you hit unlock, the car stops.

It would be best to probably put an aftermarket remote start.

Yes! The engine shuts off when you insert the key.

CompuSTAR Auto Start / Alarm

Just put the 1 mile range compuSTAR remote start and alarm system in my 2014 T4R. Had to visit the dealer and have them disable the factory alarm since when my auto start was used the factory alarm thought someone was starting it and it set the car alarm off (the neighbors loved this at 5 AM, LOL).

Dealer essentially disabled all the factory alarm and shut down features in support of the new system (compustar)which works flawlessly.

I have the same autostart on mine and love it. I think I paid $650 installed in Anchorage in 2011. I think the PN is P2WSSR.

the above comments afaik only applies to the keyed 4runners.

the push/start systems you cant get around without the engine dying even on 3rd party remote start systems.

but I have heard there is a bypass module to get around this issue on the push/start system.

Caveat emptor though.

I was only quoted $650-700 for drone mobile installed. then if you add 3yrs of service, it only costs $99 for that package, otherwise its $50 a year for service.
