Factory Remote start Installed!!

Well I was able to install the Factory remote start system on my coworkers 2014 limited. The install was very simple, and could be done with a panel popper and a 10mm socket on a ratchet. The module mounts above the glovebox and the wiring is all in the passenger kick panel area. However, you need a subscription to TIS to get the install instructions and they have to be followed very specifically. Luckily the instructions are Extremely detailed, down to instructing you to wipe off all fingerprints and check for any scuffs or scratches in the trim.

HOWEVER: when It came time to programming a techstream 2.0 is required and the techstream lite will not work. I had to get some help from a friend over at the local dealership to do the last bit of programming.

TLDR: You will have to pay the dealer something no matter what.

I just Googled Techstream 2 and its some hardened Panasonic laptop+more stuff, that cannot be cheap.

I had the same experience. Can't flash with the eBay cable, so I had to take it to a shop that had a Mongoose cable.

Great for reference. I dislike when someone gets something on tech stream then tells others to pay for it. What is the point of sharing stuff like this if you dont? What would be the point of the money free writups and reviews. Hell i know I dont get paid for making vids but i like contributing to things for others to help them on there way.

I did go with an aftermarket system. It was just under $300. Gives me remote start without shutting off when opening the door, allows me to insert key when I place my foot on the brake the key takes over, capability to use factory remote, capability to operate from phone, distance limited by Verizon Service, capability to unlock the truck by RFID just walk up to it unlock etc.

And i will add to it to be able to open rear hatch, roll down/up rear window, roll down/up other windows.

Heck i was so close to getting the factory system i had to write the port to tell them dont instal anything! Since I already said earlier that evening to put in remote start. Well was within hours. So was no harm no foul.

Sorry for the lack of response, I was out of town all weekend. I got the instructions just by asking the parts guy where we bought the kit from, he faxed them too me and the quality was pretty low.

I wasn't able to do it with my techstream/ mongoose cable as I didn't have the options for the utilities that I needed to do. Perhaps I need update my software but it was 9pm and I was in a hurry. Case of beer later I had it programmed.
