Factory Roof Rack

I've noticed that my factory roof rack appears to be peeling. I'm not sure if it has been painted or not? what color is the rack normally? Its not just the cross bars, its the whole assembly. Anyways would it be wise to just paint it? or does anyone know where I can purchase a new factory rack? and suggestions whould be great. thanks

thats not a bad idea. do you know if they make that stuff in a can for purchase yet?

duplicolor makes a canned spray on liner. this should come in handy for multiple uses. I might spray the bottom of my kayaks with this stuff. Anyone else thing of some good uses?

Mine had done that on one of the mounting rails on the side but it doesn't appear to be damaging but I'm going to spray it with the liner stuff come spring.

its not causing damage, its just an eye sorer.

Mine's starting to fade on the sides, too. Becareful if you decide to use that liner stuff on the crossbars. I plan to get some ski racks and I know the clips won't mount on there if you spray on that liner stuff.

Personally, I would just leave it alone, or paint it (with some regular flat black paint. Cheap), if it really bothers you.

yeah about the factory rack i was wondering what is the limit for the rack.. i want to get the yakima spacebooster and i was wondering if i have to get new racks...does anyone have one of those lugguage rakcs?

The weight limit on a '98 (according to the sticker) is 165 pounds.
