Factory Roof Racks

Picked up my 07 4runner, but the issue was that it did not come with a factory roof rack. I guess that is a feature that does not come standard on the SR5 down south, but in New England all new runners come with. In any event, I NEED to get a rack on the thing. Called Toyota and they sent me to pack sand. Apparently they do not sell the rack for installation. They told be to go aftermarket.

I checked out Thule and Yakima but everything mounts to the existing rails. Anyone out there have the same issue? What did you end up going with and how do you like it? Was it a pain in the keister to install?

My first avenue would be to place a WTB ad in the for sale section here and at http://www.toyota120.com/forum/index.php . Several, especially at 120 have full aftermarket racks.

Next I'd try another dealer. If no luck shoot me a PM and I'll send you a few links to dealers that might be able to help.

Thanks so much for the info. I will post a wanted ad. Do you think I would need to drill holes in the roof to install. I woudl hate to botch that up, but I'm thinking it may be the only way.

Im not sure but I think you remove part of the black trim in the rain gutter. Once removed the holes are there and threaded I believe.

I just took off my racks on my 08 sports edition 4runner. After much searching found parts needed to replace rack.If you remove the cover where your racks should mount.you will find a bracket with 2 bolts.To remove cover push on cover in direction of arrow and pry up on opposite side.Should pop off.To install just snap it back on. Remove that and thats where the roof rack mounts.Bellow is a picture of a Rav4brackets and cover,but its exactly like the 4runner except the cover looks slightly different. Would sell you mine but shipping would be killers from Hawaii.
