Factory Sport Bumper Kit

I was wondering if anyone has purchased the factory Sprot Bumper Kit. I have not seen any pictures of it, and was wondering if the sport bumper trim was worth it or not.

save your money and get a after market bumper for the same or less cost and made with real metal instead of the toyota plastic.

np. in the first frontal accident i get into that damages the toyota sport bumper, im having the body shop not put the bumper back on so i can get a manik guard like the one on my wife's 02 tacoma.

do you have a picture of a manik guard, or a www. to a dealer?

here is a pic of my wife's manik on a older toyota, the pic is from www.performanceproducts.com, and if you have there catalog, they show quite a few different guards on different toyota's.

i bought/install the manik at a local 4x4 off road shop that my wife knew the owners, so we got it bought/installed at just under $400 for the 1 piece manik.

if you want i can take a pic of my wife's tacoma.

have you seen one of those brush guards in an accident?

it looks like it does more harm than protect sometimes.

I've seen some images where in some minor fender bender the guards actually take soo much of the impact that it bends and then hits the headlights/hood/side panels and damages the parts including the bumper whereas if the owner didn't have one it would have just been the bumper itself.

kinda makes ya wonder eh...

brush guards are never meant to be replacements for real bumpers.

you have to realize that the mount point (pivot point) for brush guards are under the radiator and to the front frame and not directly behind like the front bumpers. so of course in a frontal hit the brush guard is going to pivot at the mount point and whack the grille/hood/quarter panels.

brush guards are hardly used for the original intent for what there are. mostly they are used to make the other person think twice about backing into you in a parking lot.

but they do look nice. good example is my wife, she hated having a brush guard on her trucks, and on her latest 02 tacoma, i finally convinced her to put one on, and now she thinks it looks better with it on.

and yeah i have seen more often than not that brush guards cause more damager than if it was left off. but it dont matter, i have a $100 comp/coll deductible for both vehicles. easy up here since i only pay like $700-$800 for 100/300/100 full coverage for both trucks.

That plastic sport grill is a waste of money. I've had mine just under a year and the black cheap plastic on both sides are cracked and a piece has already come off of one side.

I just saw a factory bumper's shattered carcass at the service area. The covering is thin cheap plastic. I think my R/C 4R has higher quality plastic. For the price they want, it's a no brainer...look aftermarket!
Any suggestions on what color guards/bull bar looks good with Galactic Gray???

Black bunpers

Get an ARB/TJM up front and just paint the rear one black. That's what I did.

That would be great but I don't think ARB or TJM have bumpers for 4th gen's.
