Hi,
My 1995 4runner, 144xxx miles, good condition just recently died while I was driving home from work. I was driving along slowly done a residential street when suddenly the engine died and went unresponsive. I had it towed to a mechanic who discovered several problems with it. The ignition drum and rotor needed replacing, the starter needed replacing, and 2 of the fuel injectors failed. Supposedly when tested, instead of injecting fuel at timed intervals they were releasing a constant spray of fuel.
The mechanic told me I should replace ALL of the fuel injectors even though only 2 had failed so far. His reasoning was that he thinks because 2 failed the others are prone to failure in the near future. Is this true?
Around how much would you expect a job like this to cost? (replacing 2, or replacing all)
