Falken Rocky Mountains

Anyone have the Falken Rocky Mountain A/Ts? I bought these when I bought my T4R a couple of months ago. Had some issues with them since. One tire had to be replaced, I guess it was out of round, and had a constant pulling. Discount Tire happily replaced it for me. They look real nice(have even had a few compliments) but I still feel like I have an issue on the highway. To quote someone else who has reviewed these tires, it kind of feels like there are marbles under the tires. Truck feels like it is constantly moving around on the highway. I am making these little adjustments every moment and its getting old. Like the back end is wandering everywhere These are the only tires I have used other than the worn down ones on it when I bought it(only drove about 10 miles in them) before replacing, so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

An alignment has been done and re-checked, brakes have been done and re-checked for possible caliper sticking. I think its jut the tires. Too soft?

I once hit the brakes and by no means hard on a snowy back road and the truck couldn't stop, ABS went nuts trying to get it stopped. No traction stopping, but they did well otherwise. They are very quiet on the highway however.

With that said, anyone who has the tires or has experience feedback would be appreciated. I know this has been beat to death here, but can anyone make a good recommendation for an AT for light off-roading occasional snow driving, and very important to me, quiet on the highway. What's the max we can put on stock? 265/70-17? I live in the desert so not a lot of rain, but we do get some and we get some snow. I like to head up the back roads in the mountains too after it snows and I'm a light off roader.

Its been over 30 days, so I am assuming I have no recourse to exchange them?

I've heard from a few people (with different vehicles) who've felt the same way. Said they were too soft on road and didn't feel solid. Go back to Discount, they're good guys, see what they can do for you.

Look into the Nitto Terra Grapplers, I've heard lots of good things about their on road performance (they're quiet and ride well) and their off road performance. Only negative i've heard about them is if you don't rotate them regularly they cup really bad.

Falken makes some good auto-x tires, but they don't seem to be there yet with the AT tires. I went to Discount also and had the BFG AT, Nitto TG, Goodyear Duratrac, and Goodyear Silent Armor on the short list. I saw the Falken Rocky Mountain and the tech said it wouldn't be a good choice... hard to balance and he said that people complained about the same softness feel that you've described.

I ended up with the Silent Armors and love 'em!

I know people very high up @ Falken tire, they are personal friends of mine and if Discount will not help you PM and I'll see what I can do.

I stopped at Discount Tire today and the manager helped me. I started to explain to him what was going on and he interrupted me for the most part and asked me to pull it in the bay. Then checked my pressure and aired them down to 32 and pretty much told me that'll solve it.

I knew it wouldn't help much but to humor him I went to drive and check. I have aired them up trying different pressures and he higher I go the worse it gets, I understand how that works. They're at 32 now and I still have the issue(though not as severe as when at 35-37). The last pressure I aired them too was about 37 and even at that pressure I don't believe they should be as squirrelly as they are.

Guess I'll go back another day to tell him they are still goofy.

the fj forum has nothing but good things to say about them.. also the jeep forum and taco forum are all raving about these tires for the value and performance..
