Family Stickers

Before I get started, yes I know it is kind of So Gay , but my wife wants one of those family stickers for the back of our 4Runner. I get to hold a fishing rod in my sticker, so I won't complain too much.

Anyway, my concern is with the rear window and the fact that it is a slider. Any concern how one of those sticker will interfere or mess up the seal?

Well tell your wife that the sticker wont hold up. But from me to you the rear window sliding past the sticker wont rip it off. And if your wife wants to put it on and try, why not glue a little razor blade onto the seal? I hate those stickers!

There's an article on that..Its a bad idea. Criminals will know how many are you in tha family. How many are grown-ups. If you have dogs. How many are working age, means children are left in the house... They can estimate if you can defend your family and follow you in camping sites. Today, we have to be a bit paranoid...sometimes it looks cool but imagine someone pretend to be the uncle and pick-up the kid..he knows the name of the dad, the mom..and "hows Ringo?(the lab)" because of the family sticker. yeah you can LOL! at me. wifey loves to have one and I let her read the news....girl missing...

Sticker: Dad, Mom, Shaina and Ringo

Kidnapper: "Shaina how are you?" Surprise? yeah..Hows Ringo I saw it in the video....

As wacky as this sounds, I agree with this. I stay as low key as possible and don't offer any identifiable information (besdies my license plate :) )

^^^ I agree. Chester the Molester must love those things. I also see a lot of stickers w/ kid's name, school name and what type of activity they do. You might as well drop your kid off at Roman Polanski's place!

Hope this will help you plead your case for your kids safety (and prevent your immasculation): from Family Stickers, Family Car Stickers, Family Decals, Family Car Decals

3.PLACEMENT AREA. It is not recommended for windows that rolls up/down or near wipers, front or back.
4.DO NOT SCRAPE OVER STICKER WITH SNOW SCRAPER

In interest of full disclosure.... I hate those stickers! :50cal:

I don't have problems with the stickers and windows seals. I lower my rear window when not on a/c and stickers are low and hidden when window is down.

As for the the family sticker, a simple google search yield two in first page:
1. 'I See You Have a Family Decal on Your Car. Now I Will Kidnap Your Kids!' - ParentDish
2. Current Events : Discussions : Criminals and Sexual Predators using bumper stickers to profile you and learn about your family. -- Mom to Mom Forums Louisville MomsLikeMe.com

There is a thread started here in General Discussion http://www.toyota-4runner.org/general-discussions/55442-stickers-you-hate.html#post454990 that addresses these stickers entitled "stickers you hate."

As far as the 5th gen is concerned, I cannot tell that I have any problems with my sticker on the lower left back window.

Oh and for you sickos (perverts, etc.) that are looking to see what you're gonna prey on based on the sticker you see... Here is one for you!

Can you explain the image? What are we looking at here?

Well, I am glad you asked. That is a sticker representing the bolt face of a M16/AR15. The 'gears' around the edge lock into the lugs of the barrel when the bolt closes and loads a round of .223 caliber ammunition. The round dot in the middle is where the firing pin comes from as you squeeze the trigger and release the sear. And finally, the 'little upside down T' on the top left is the extractor that rips out the empty shell casing as the bolt blows back allowing room in the chamber for the next round as the bolt falls back forward.

Get my drift?

Here's a couple more"family" stickers that they'll love down at the PTA.
I saw another one on an old chevy hippie van that had the "Manson Family" with Charlie and the rest of his cult stick figures.Kinda freaked me out! Just walk the other way!!Takes all Kinds to make the world go around!!

As others have said, listing home occupants to let bad guys know is a bad idea.

As a hunter and guy with a extensive gun collection advertising yourself as a gun owner does you no favors either, why advertise? I prefer the surprise of greeting uninvited guests with a big surprise. South African Street Sweeper style :ak472:

Lastly those stickers are her way of marking you with her brand.

But then again my license plate ( SOFAQU2) tells people what I think of them and it shows my address as my LLC to a PO Box address. I'm all about not giving a clue.

Gotta love Betty B! BTW - that's a pretty cool chick car you got there. :bravo:

:D hmmm, thanks,err, wait a minute!!!
My hubs called it a 'grocery getter' (jokingly) the other day and he's lucky he can move fast, otherwise he'd prob be neutered. ;)

Crisis avoided. I don't know why the idea of "advertising our family to the world" never came up with my wife?? When she was pregnant she was paranoid that someone was going to steal the baby out of her at the mall. No balloons in the yard when we brought the baby home and the second time around the neighbors across the street didn't even know she was pregnant until she was 7 months! In any event, when I pointed out the concerns raised here, she put an end to the idea immediately!
