farenheit vs. celcius

my Runner is originally from NY, and I'm in Canada. You crazy Americans us farenheit to measure heat, while In Canda, we use celcius. my Runner, being a crazy American, insists on telling me the outside temperature in farenheit, which really means nothing to me (I can guesstimate at best). does anybody know if I can change the dash computer to read in celcius instead of farenheit?

the odd thing...we measure fuel mileage in litres per 100 kilomtres, which means nothing to me. I prefer (and understand) mpg instead. does that mean I'm a hybrid?

so after reading that other thread, it appears there is no answer. a bunch of non-answers ( you can't do it, only dealerships can do it, swap the cluster for a canadian unit, hope it just does it on its own etc...), but no real answer. shit.

I remember back in around 1975 there was this BIG push to adopt the metric system. Some Mfg. Companies started making the needed changes. Schools started getting their programs together to teach it.

Well things quickly just stopped, I think it was just too much for some to even think about, let alone try understanding why the rest of the World used this great metric system.

It was just more simple to just keep doing it the old English system.:bash:

IMHO it still makes us the laughing stock of the rest of the World.

Bacon, dude, good luck with the conversion fix on the computer, but I say, just program your brain "to know" both metric and imperial, otherwise you will go crazy. Not sure if being American or Canadian has anything to do with it.

It's enough that both systems are typically used/referred to (here in Canada) as you would know - LOL:

- a litre bottle of water
- 8 foot lengths of 2x4's (which are not actually 2"x4")
- a pound of butter
- a 48 gram chocolate bar
- 3 mm thick glass
- 14 oz. sirloin strip steak
- air pumps with readings at gas station are p.s.i.
- road signs in km or km/hr
- 42" LCD TV
- 10 kg bag of rice
- pint of beer
- 8 1/2 x 11 paper
- gas consumption in L/100 km - I actually hate this one, LOL.

Ya the metric system was never fully implemented so now we have a very confusing hybrid system in place. It's so confusing I saw one quote that I thought stated the confusion well

"In the "old days" you might say " It was 95 degrees today" Now we tend to say "it was really hot". In the old days you might say your girlfriend was 38-24-36 and today you might say she was "stacked" or "big".

Remember when some ballbacks (Philly; etc) used meters on the outfield walls? Now that was stupid. What I can't stand is in the grocery store when you try to compare prices of cereal or something. One box is in oz's and the one next to it is in lbs! I know it's so you CAN'T compare.
