Well guys, just wanted to say farewell and best of luck to everyone. Having had four consecutive 4Runners (2000, 2004, 2006, 2008), I obviously loved this truck, but I just couldn't deal with the moving/popping/clicking driver's seat anymore. I settled my suit with Toyota, traded the truck in and got a 2007 Lexus GS450 Hybrid. The car is an absolute beast. Maybe I'm having a midlife crisis, who knows, but I am absolutely loving this thing. Leather, NAV, Mark Levinson sound, AC seats, name it and it's got it.

Anyway, I've really enjoyed my seven years here. This is a great forum with great members who are always very helpful.

Congrats on your new ride!...hey if that makes you happy thats what really matters.

Now we need to see pics of your new Toy...
 
Glad that the suit is settled and that you're happy. Be sure to come back from time to time to tell us more about the GS450.

I expect more from Toyota, as they seem to have set the bar quite high. Any decline in quality at the expense of making a buck will have me seeing red. So, I will trade it in after the suit is settled and never buy another Toyota again.

I've read most of your posts regarding this cracking seat. I noticed mine does the same. I'm 165lbs and my wife is less than 95lb......she hasnt noticed any noise from the seat. All things being equal, this is an EXCELLENT vehicle. I'm coming off of a Jeep Grand Cherokee which is a complete POS.

I don't know if I would call Toyota's products crap (as you have), although this did seem to really annoy you, I'm sure SOMEONE out there fixed the issue (a DIYer for sure). I don't think most would have gotten rid of your car due to a cracking seat. After getting your Lexus, I'm sure you will want to eat your words on your comment about getting a Toyota again............:wink2:

OK Cookie, you got me on that one. And yeah, maybe the seat bothered me more than most, but I couldn't stand it any more. It really really annoyed the hell out of me.

OK, here are some preliminary pics. Keep in mind that tomorrow I am getting tint, putting in 8000k low beams and 2500k super yellow fogs (just like my Runner), getting the correct wood-trim shift knob and probably getting the wheels changed out. Not sure I like the chrome spiders.

Plus - that horribly cheesy, disgusting pinstriping is PAINTED ON. Ugh. Nothing comes to mind as to how to get rid of it. Anyone know how I can do that without getting the whole thing repainted? I'm open to anything.

apart from the pinstripe, your Lex looks very nice!

8000K low beams?? Don't you like the OEM HIDs?
 
very very nice.. If I lived in Florida, Id be driving a Lexus IS350... Ive even thought about moving there, lol
 
If your pinstripe is painted on over top of the paint, and has not been clear coated, a good body shop should be able to take it off for you without damaging your paint. I had a video that showed how to do it but now I can't find it.

Oh, and BTW, apparently 5th Gen owners are experiencing driver's seat squeak.:lol:
 
Very nice, congrats! After you drive it a bit I'd love to know what kind of "real world" mpg you get.

Congrats on your new ride! I think the Lexus brand will live up to your standards better than Toyota. Good Luck!
 
Cookie - no, I didn't like the 4300K OEM low beams, they are/were too yellow for me. The 8000K is a nice ice blue/white, provides plenty of light and contrasts very nicely with the 2500K hyper yellow fogs. Some people want their fogs to match the low beams. I like it this way.

Scoobs - thanks so much for the links. Exactly what I was looking for, especially the first one.

CJ3 - I've now had the car for one week and have gone through one tank of gas. According to my calculations, I got 25.8 mpg with a lot of playing around - punching it, using the "power" mode which, holy crap, makes the car feel like a rocket (pins you back in your seat), and just generally driving like I stole it. When I calm down, I wouldn't be surprised if I averaged 28 mpg or more.

ric and Duhockey - I actually plan on moving to Colorado by the end of the year! We'll see if it really happens but I have a lot of family there - brother is in Longmont, cousin in Boulder and mom lives in Littleton.

And to everybody else, thanks so much for the comments. I will put final pics up when the rest of the stuff - tint, wheels, tires, etc. - is done.

well then ya just might have to retrade it in for a 4x4 lol,,
 
Oh hell no, I am not getting rid of this beast. I would have to get a 4X4 IN ADDITION to keeping this car...lol
