Would you want the skins and most of the foam / parts? The base frames were transplanted into my seats but the brown skins are in decent shape, let me know!

Pic heavy update of some ghetto seat restoration:

Drivers seat required some extra attention

Needed the base frame from the brown seat since mine was strung with 550 cord

Seat back bolster had popped a seam

Closed it up with 5 passes of a needle and thread

Foam beneath the seam was cut and scooped out

Fill

Patch

Repeat

Had to get creative "rebuilding" the outer bolster - I swear my build will consist of more than just zip ties and duct tape soon...

End result:

Not perfect but the seat is firm and comfortable, skin is on tight and most of the wrinkles are taken out! - should look good when re-installed!

Did I mention all the bolster adjustments work on the seat?!

I applaud your cleverness! Sometimes just duct taping it until it stops falling apart is the way to go. And if it still has working adjustments that's even better.

New Owner for this '87

How's the progress going?

I'm the new owner of this '87 and posting here to continue the story of this 4Runner. I purchased this '87 a couple of weeks ago from a guy that purchased it from Florida Runner late 2016. I was #2 to call about the CL ad, but #1 ended up buying it. Turns out the guy who bought it is very knowledgeable about toyota's and was looking to work his magic on a 1st gen Turbo 4Runner, get it running and sell it. So, after a few calls, several texts, and a couple of trips to his shop, his work was done and I was ready to buy. The wife and I drove up a couple of Saturdays ago, had new tires put on and I drove it 200 miles back home with the wife following in our '08 4Runner. I installed a new hitch on the '08 the night before just in case I needed to rent a car dolly somewhere along the ride home. I didn't need it. Drove through a good rain storm for the last 10 miles and that gave me a chance to test the lights, wipers and defrost - they all worked.

I'll start a new build thread for this '87 turbo soon since there are still some things to work on - the heater control valve is seized, replace the evaporator, clean the farm dust from off the interior, etc.

Can someone guide me to get my turbo working. I am pretty hands on actually doing the control arm bushings in my 82 diesel mini now. I would like to get my turbo otr. It needs chain done, solenoids in the tranny and the turbo fixed. My 88 is just like this truck.

I only have experience with this 22RET so I can't offer any personal comparison experience. On paper there is more HP than the 22RE so I would guess with all things equal (weight, etc.) there would be a noticeable difference.
