Farting noise from under the hood?

Ever since I got my 97 Limited (used) it has had a slight farting noise from under the hood, about every 5 seconds it emits a low buzz for about 1 sec. This is with the car standing in the driveway, everything off and no key in the ignition.

I still know the original owner and they told me it did that when it was new from the factory.

Today I noticed it's now changed to a constant low buzz/humm noise. I have to think that whatever it is is going to eventually drain the battery so I put an Amp draw test on it but there's nothing there, .02 A.

The truck came with a Lo-Jac system installed, could that be it?

Cars like that gives Honda its bad name. But I guess "to each his own".

If it's been like that since you got the 4runner and you haven't had a dead battery. I wouldn't worry to much about it. The sound probably goes away after a while (20min) or so??? Probably just the canister purge valve releasing some built up pressure in the evap system.

Mine does it too. The part to fix it is discontinued but it's only annoying...not a something that will break.

That's the culprit, I notice it on warm days more than not.

Mine makes this noise but more violently when my ac is on.

I just ran the part number through 1sttoyotaparts and it had it listed....could try and order it, I've never heard they were discontinued.

I bet you could achieve the same thing by putting a inline metal or plastic fuel filter on the hose.
