Slowly but surely...

Few more modifications to the rig. Bilstein 5100's arrived and I am waiting to install them. Probably just wait until I change over to summer tires.

Some might call this a downgrade, but they sure have been awesome in the snow and ice - way better than the BFG's were. Anyhow, removed the 275/70/17 BFG KO's and thew on a pair of 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer M+S with studs. I don't like how they look compared to my summer tires, but they sure give you peace of mind in ice and snow.

Next, I have the Thule Force XL rooftop cargo box for skis and gear. Tried to fit it on there with the factory installed crossbars and it did not fit. Even moved all the way forward it rubbed on the antennae. Went on craigslist and found mint condition Thule towers, crossbars and ski rack for $160. Retail, it's over $400 for the package. Removed factory crossbars and installed rack. A little road noise, but overall it seems super sturdy. It will hold me o ver until I can get a gobi or baja.

Other mods to date include two trips to Safelite Auto Glass for chip repairs... I've been a magnet for rocks flying around the highway!

Snow is melting..... finally got some mud on the tires.

Snow has been melting and spring is trying to show itself up north. Took a little detour on the way home from work today. Headed out to Cooper Lake near Cooper Landing, AK. Found out it was still frozen and opted for some beach driving on the south shores of Kenai Lake at the headwaters of the Kenai River. Finally got to use crawl control, 4 Low, and the locking rear diff. Can't wait for summer.

Lots of snow up near Cooper Lake. About 1600 ft above sea level.

All the snow is gone down near Kenai Lake. Not a breath of wind on the lake.
