faulty ubj from o'riellys

When I first bought the truck back in January of 2014. I knew that the ball joints were bad so in April I replaced them cause they were locking up and causing the front end to shake like crazy. So I decide to go with O'Reilly auto parts to get new ball joints. They weren't hard to pop out and replace. Did all 4 in 4-5 hours without a press. So cool they felt 100 times better, smoother ride blah blah blah... so for 10 months they were doing great. Until Monday night, driving home from work they did great. Picked my roommate up from the house cause he needed to go to oriellys. Not even 2 miles from the house just felt the tire give out and the front drive side slam to the ground (brakes almost completely out going 55) and slid another 100feet to the side of the road where it Rested. Waited 2 hours for a flat bed to show up after aaa sent the wrong tow truck The first time. So what I'm getting at is don't cheap out on very important parts such as ball joints. I saved a few bucks the first time but now I'm looking at a estimate 1500 or more for new tires, oem ball joints and tie rods (because might as well) brake lines and flex hoses. me and my buddy just ended up laughing about it when it happened. Shit happens but it's replaceable.

My buddy says it's bad casting from the manufacturer. I think he is right.

But unfortunately I don't have receipts To prove the purchase.

Sucks to hear and see. Only oem on LBJ people!!! Orillys might have your purchase in thier system.

Just glad you guys are ok. It's scary when the failures happen at high speed.

I've learned over the years (not just on cars) on when to skimp and go with the cheaper route and when to buy quality. If it's a part or component that is essential to the project or system (basically I'd be in a tough spot if it every failed) I go with quality. When it comes to cars, if it's a matter of safety or reliability I don't skimp.

You don't need me lecturing you though. At least you are taking advantage of having it all apart to fix/upgrade a few other parts!

to be honest, i wasn't really scared, i just knew i had to get it to the shoulder. luckily tire didn't fall off and cause another accident in the oncoming lane.

haha fb group is a little quicker for help but the forum definitely helps with bigger issues and more detailed help
